Our Approach
About Naturopathy
Naturopathy is an approach to health and healing that recognizes the integrity of the whole person. Treatment is synergistically selected with respect to patient's vital force, allowing the intelligence of the natural healing process at work.
The Six Principles of Naturopathic Medicine
2. First, Do No Harm
Naturopathic treatments are gentle and effective with no adverse side effects or beneficial side-effects noted during the healing process. NDs seek to minimize side effects and avoid suppression of symptoms.
3. Identify and Remove the Cause
NDs focus on removing the root cause of a patient's condition as opposed to just treating the symptoms. A ND seeks to remove obstacles to the body's natural processes.
5. The Physician as Teacher
A ND is trained to understand health, disease and the human body - from a scientific and an integrated perspective. As a matter of fact, their first two years of medical training includes basic sciences and later in progressive clinical training with modern diagnostic tools like their MD counterparts. The ND's role is to teach and share all that they have learned about how to be well and how to restore health; their goal is to help patients make informed choices that affect their health and encouraged to accept responsibility for their health and be active participants in their healing process.
4. Treat the Whole Person
"Holistic" word is often used to describe the body as a whole, unable to be separated into various parts. For example, a ND recognizes the fact that it is impossible to separate a headache from the mind and the stress response. A ND views every aspect of a person's life in regards to their state of health. Therefore, a ND considers all things from heredity, environment and daily lifestyle to dietary habits, past traumas and the effect of present emotion stress or stresses.
6. Prevention
NDs work with patients to assess risks, make appropriate intervention to prevent illness. Each aspect of treatment is designed toward supporting health and wellness over a lifetime.
1. The Healing Power of Nature
Naturopathic doctors (NDs) believe in an inherent healing capacity within each person. The idea is to remove obstacles in order to enable this healing power within to take over and restore a state of health. The naturopathic physician's role is to facilitate and support this process.
Services Explained...
Auricular Medicine is a treatment method that uses energetic reflex points on the ear (auricle) in conjunction with the pulse to detect and subsequently correct imbalances in the body. This method first developed by a French physician with combined Chinese acupuncture knowledge is now managed by the International Auriculotherapy Organization.
Drainage Homeopathy is a newer form of homeopathic medicine that opens the body's routes of elimination in order to promote detoxification and optimal functioning in various organ systems.
Physical Medicine: We apply manipulation techniques to help pain management and release muscle strain and joint restrictions. This works in conjunction with hydrotherapy with additional use of different physical medicine therapeutic tools such as ultrasound, laser, and sinewave machines.
Hydrotherapy was the first type of treatment used by the Nature Doctors of Europe, which uses applications of hot and cold (usually in the form of water) to various parts of the body. These fluctuations in temperature serve to stimulate the immune system and the body's inherent healing power. The Protocol called Constitutional Hydrotherapy that we practice in our office is a modern version revised and perfected by Dr. O.G. Carroll (Spokane, WA) in the early 1900s.
Botanical Medicine is a branch of naturopathy known also as Herbal Medicine, which uses various plants as medicinal agents in the treatment of disease. This form of treatment takes advantage of the integrity of a whole plant as opposed to the isolated components used in allopathic pharmaceuticals that usually have side effects.
Bowen Therapy: A type of energy bodywork technique originated from Australia in the early 1900s. An energy management work is systematically applied to fascia and muscles over the acupuncture points and body energy sphere to bring about the release of muscle restrictions and body energy balance. The work is gentle yet effective for general conditions from headaches, backache, and neck pain to specific conditions like respiratory problems, menstruation cramps, emotional traumas, incontinence, bed-wetting or fertility conception, just to name a few.
Allopathy is a term coined by the founder of homeopathy, Samuel Hahnemann, for a traditional medical practice that utilizes medication whose effects are different from the disease being treated, and which have no relationship to the disease symptoms.
Homeopathy is a therapeutic medical science, which is based on the notion that substances able to cause certain symptoms in a healthy person can, in turn, heal those same symptoms in a sick person. We practice Classical Homeopathy or Constitutional Homeopathy in which we conduct a thorough patient interview which covers from childhood to present including family, social and environmental factors that have affected the patient's mental, emotional and physical beings. The interview could take up to 3 hours.
